A couple of months ago, I included some audio of my boy singing the national anthem in this post. At least one of you demanded more. And from my perspective, if I can make a reader happy by letting my son come up with blog content for me, well, it’s win-win.

Here’s a little America (aka My Country ‘Tis of Thee):

And how about a little love for our friends north of the border?:

Next time: the Guyanese national anthem and “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”

That’s the cutest thing I’ve ever heard.

Gee…all I can get my boys to sing is things like Star Wars and the Theme to Gilligan’s Island! Maybe some Weird Al here and there. Your kid isn’t only cute, he has culture!

  3. S Says:

Sounds like the chipmunks over here, maybe my computer is broken! I wanna hear it too:)

OMGOsh OMAR! That was so cute!!
    =D
How many National anthems does he know?

  5. Joanna Says:

S - all I got for the national anthem one before was chipmunk sounds. It finally worked for me today.

Omar - I love it! Do you guys sing patriotic songs at home a lot? My boy knows a bunch of songs, but they’re the Little Einsteins theme tune and various other songs that involve something that sounds like the word “rocket” - i.e. Bob Marley’s “Rock It” and M.J.’s I Wanna Rock With You!.

He does do a mean “Frere Jacques” whose words have been changed to “where’s my jacket? where’s my jacket? Over there. Over there. Somewhere next to Tina…” due to the undue influence of his father.

Maybe it’s just me, but the boy seemed a lot more enthusiastic while singing the Canadian National Anthem. Exactly how close to the boarder are you?

Also, Google Chrome update: It won’t play these at all. I switched over to Firefox where he did not sound like a chipmunk at all. Now I’m back in Chrome and making my comment box excessively wide again. Now my comment only takes up three lines.

Jon, I used Chrome for about two days, some of my plug-ins don’t work on it yet, I’ll wait until they come off beta? I went back to IE. YES IE.
Sorry, I want to love Firefox but I just can’t.
Kinda like Napoleon Dynamite and some people =)

    Ok, I’m on Firefox.
    Hmmm.

It thinks my “Ok” and “Hmmm” are lame.
    ;P

I switched over to Windows just so I could try it in Chrome - it worked fine for me. It’s just an mp3 with javascript and flash, not sure why it wasn’t working…

That resizable text box thing? It’s a Webkit feature. Safari has had it since version 3 came out last year.

I was wondering if the resizable text box was a Safari feature… I’ve never really used Safari, so I didn’t know. As for Chrome, I’m not 100% sold just yet, but it’s been nice so far. There’s a few features that I really like, and a few that I don’t, but it’s been a mostly positive experience… But so has Firefox 3.0…

How did this become a discussion about Chrome? Odd. I thought we were all here to ooh and aah about the cuteness of Omar’s offspring. What gives?

And he IS cute, Omar. I’m impressed with his memorization. (Mine tends to ad-lib when he can’t remember what comes next. Which is always.) But–how is it he knows the Canadian Anthem at all?

  12. cadiz12 Says:

i heard “The Star-Spangled Banner” as chipmunks when I tried to see it at work on Safari. I was able to hear both audio posts just fine on Firefox. Guyanese national anthem? I’m totally pumped for that one. Your boy has a lovely voice.

As far as the Chrome discussion, you never really know which way the topic is going to go in the comments. Someday it’s Chrome, someday it’s Napoleon Dynamite; it all depends on the mood of those first few commenters and if subsequent ones want to jump in.

WHY does he know the canadian national anthem? is that a regular song you guys sing in your house? this intrigues me. and i usually stay away from any kind of google beta programs. i wait until the final one comes out. i don’t trust beta.

  14. Carrot Says:

Aw, my baby was singing along too.
Of course, he doesn’t quite know the words (yet), so it sounds like “dee ahh doh doh duh ahh bah”. Perhaps one day they can perform as the two tenors. AFter the two that are left kick off, of course.

  15. Omar Says:

Maybe it’s time for one of those question and answer posts…

“I switched over to Windows just so I could try it in Chrome …” That’s how they get you!

Since you are going to be answering questions:

    How’s the weather up there?
How come some states don’t allow for giveaways (like when it says “Except where prohibited”)?
How come my dog won’t pose for my pictures no more?
What’s up with Nicolas Cage hair?

I love when he says “Oh, I mean…” Too cute!

  19. Carrot Says:

Er…Omar? I was wondering if you could go back to my blog and read what I just posted, since you seem to be the only witness to my stupidity. (I hope)
    Thanks.

That is the cutest singing! I love how he holds those last notes! Awesome! Maybe next year you can have him try out for America’s Got Talent? Or something like that.
